All Hermann's art is present in this story, Caatinga, set in the semi-desert Sertão of 1930s northeastern Brazil. A land where the inhabitants are as violent and rugged as the climate. It's a western atmosphere that suits Hermann perfectly, and here we find all his graphic style: low-angle camera, as he himself puts it, "right on the ass", nervous inking and, above all, unique direct coloring. His almost unrealistic monochrome effects, which create an oppressive atmosphere, convey the anguish of these fugitives who could be caught at any moment by the police. Not to be missed.
