226 artworks of the greatest masters of comics and illustration will be presented at this very first auction organized by Daniel Maghen Enchères et Expertises on October 11, at 6 p.m.
The auction will be divided into two parts. The first part will be dedicated to the French comics artist and scriptwriter André Juillard, a key figure of contemporary comic books, who was awarded the Grand Prix of the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 1996. 31 exceptional pieces from his most emblematic series will be presented, such as rare original pages and covers from Les 7 vies de l’Épervier, Plume aux vents, Le Cahier Bleu and Blake et Mortimer, and 10 original unedited illustrations inspired by the universe of these albums, and made especially for the event.
The second part of the auction will focus on the greatest masters of comic books, such as Hergé with an exceptional cover of Le Petit vingtième of Tintin, L’Île noire (1938), Franquin with the splendid cover of Spirou et Fantasio of Tembo Tabou (1974) and Uderzo with a rare illustration of Astérix. Extraordinary artworks by Alex Alice, Batem, Bess, Bonhomme, Brüno, Coyote, Cromwell, Cuzor, Dany, Francq, Gatignol, Gazzotti, Gibrat, Gimenez, Giraud, Gotlib, Hardy, Hermann, Hubinon, Jarbinet, Lacombe, Lauffray, Ledroit Loisel, Manara, Manchu, Meyer, Miralles, Mbius, Morris, Parnotte, Pellerin, Pratt, Rochette, Rosinski, Serpieri, Schwartz, Sfar, Tardi, Tibet, Tillieux, Vallée, Vance and Will will also be offered for bid.
The 226 auction lots will be exhibited at Daniel Maghen Gallery from September 25 to October 11, 2019. The auction will take place on October 11 at 6 p.m. at the Latin American House (Paris).
