MOEBIUS - Lot 104
MOEBIUS MOEBIUS Original illustration used on the back cover cover of the collective album A1 (book 4 of 6) published by Atomeka in 1990. Signed. Watercolor, colored inks and gouache highlights on paper 10.3 × 15 cm (4.06 × 5.91 in.) Moebius's "Starwatcher" period, which began in the 1980s, is one of the most popular of his works, as it is one of the most contemplative. It follows on from his collaboration with Jodorowsky on L'Incal, in terms of its spiritual character, but is distinguished by a freedom of line, inaugurated since Major Fatal - "a poem" according to Le Monde critic Jacques Goimard - that follows an approach close to the automatic writing of the Surrealists. This hieratic profile, determined and livid, restrained and silent, topped with a munificent tiara, stands out against a wall with a strong mineral aspect. An image that invites introspection.
