FLOC'H - Lot 67
FLOC'H JEAN-CLAUDE FLOC'H Blitz, Albin Michel 1983 Original plate no. 10. India ink on paper 53.3 × 50.1 cm (20.98 × 19.72 in.) The notion of the Ligne claire was introduced by Joost Swarte in an exhibition on Hergé, Kuifje in Rotterdam (Tintin in Rotterdam) in 1977, the same year as the publication of Floc'h and Rivière's Rendez-vous de Sevenoaks. While Chaland and Serge Clerc add comic-book inspiration to their references to the Marcinelle School of Jijé and Franquin, Floc'h, like his contemporary Tardi, looks to the realist figurehead of the Brussels School: Edgar P. Jacobs. Blitz holds a special place in Floc'h's work. His plates are rare because, at one point in his life, Floc'h destroyed them. So don't let this opportunity pass you by, especially as it evokes the "Queen of Crime", Mrs Agatha Christie herself!
