The Luc Junior series, the title hero created by World's Press especially for La Libre Junior, is without doubt the most accomplished collaboration between Goscinny and Uderzo before the Pilote period. It features a duo of journalists, Luc Junior, small and clever, and his reporter-photographer colleague M. Laplaque, slightly overweight. They are accompanied by a clever dog, a spaniel named Alphonse. Our authors are at the top of their game: Goscinny is excellent at situational comedy, and Uderzo, an outstanding animal cartoonist, shows that he can draw anything. The break-up between the authors and Georges Troisfontaines' agency led them to create their own publishing structure, and later... Pilote. A well-known story.
