PLESSIX - Lot 41
PLESSIX MICHEL PLESSIX THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS Foutoir au manoir (T.4), Delcourt 2001 Original plate no. 16 accompanied by its color setting. Graphite and India ink on paper 32 × 47.8 cm (12.6 × 18.82 in.) Watercolor on paper 23.8 × 30.5 cm (9.37 × 12 in.) The four friends enter the underground section of the Tétard mansion. Above them, pests have taken over the mansion. Hush, no noise! Easier said than done, given Toad's blundering nature... His friends order him to calm down. With a change of pace, Michel Plessix lets us feel the unease of the character who, abandoning his bluster, is visibly afraid of finding himself alone in the dark. In two vertical panels, the batrachian literally seems to liquefy. The art of staging. Michel Plessix follows with a close-up of the sympathetic glances exchanged between Badger, Mole and Rat. Even if he hadn't been their friend, the trio couldn't have abandoned him... A simple question of animality!
