PLESSIX - Lot 35
PLESSIX MICHEL PLESSIX THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS La Tentation du désert (T.3), Delcourt 2009 Original plate no. 2 accompanied by its color setting. Graphite and India ink on paper 32 × 47.4 cm (12.6 × 18.66 in.) Watercolor on paper 22.3 × 25.8 cm (8.77 × 10.15 in.) In this uniquely cut plate, the author plunges into the daily lives of his characters. First, two tall, thin vertical vignettes depict the architecture of Essaouira in the early hours of the morning. At the very bottom of the images, Michel tells the story of a family of hens waking up late at night, with Mr. Rooster apparently having a hard time getting out of bed... A story within a story. On the right-hand side, cut into four horizontal strips, we enter the home of our friends. Every detail counts, every detail rings true. After staying up most of the night, Mole has collapsed on a footstool. Rat is finishing his toilet. Toad has disappeared. Too bad for him, it's time for breakfast. The designer allows himself a bird's-eye view of Hamza's little bistro. On the menu: coffee and croissants!
