PLESSIX - Lot 28
PLESSIX MICHEL PLESSIX THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS Delcourt Original illustration created for a Canal BD bookplate in 1999. Signed. Watercolor, Indian ink and pastel highlights on paper 26.7 × 41.8 cm (10.51 × 16.46 in.) Immersed in his reading - a collection of Rimbaud's poems - Rat walks through the countryside and recites a few passages to his friend Taupe. The latter, distracted, seems more attracted by a strange cloud... It's a famous three-masted ship, as fine as a bird, hoist it high! A wanderlust perhaps? Playing with the changing hues of a late afternoon, Michel Plessix delicately renders the infinity of the sky. It's worth noting that the artist would later use this idea of a celestial vessel on the cover of the first volume of Le Vent dans les Sables.
