"This image popped into my mind one day, and it seemed so obvious that I thought I'd already done it. Ellen, sitting on an armchair made up of all the monsters that populate her world and form the whole picture. When you have images in your mind that end up haunting you, then don't hesitate! It doesn't work every time, and sometimes you realize that they weren't as powerful as you'd imagined, but for this one, something strong emerges. Here again, I play on contrasts. Firstly, visually, between the whiteness of the character in her wedding dress and the red-eyed monsters that surround her and blend together to form a disturbing mass. Symbolically, then, between the strength of Islen's piercing, provocative gaze and her serene stance among these creatures, which are like threats she can hurl against us in a single movement."
