HERMANN ◊ - Lot 22
HERMANN ◊ THE TOWERS OF BOIS-MAURY Eloïse de Montgri (T.2), Glénat 1985 Original plate no. 35, prepublished in Vécu no. 6, August 1985. Superficial soiling on the spine. Signed. India ink on paper 36.8 × 47.4 cm (14.89 × 18.66 in.) This second volume of Les Tours de Bois-Maury confirms Hermann in one of his favorite themes: wandering. Along the way, adventure springs up by surprise at every turn. Visiting the Pays de Caux, Bois-Maury discovers a region ravaged by looters, led by a strange-looking and behaving chief. It's in this episode that Bois-Maury meets Eloïse de Montgri, a strong, enigmatic young woman with deep secrets, who proves to be a formidable fighter. With his Rotring drawing, which lets the line flow with controlled musicality, Hermann concentrates on what he does best: atmosphere, as in the two nightmarish images that open the sequence.
