Along with Jean-Christophe Menu, David B., Stanislas, Mattt Konture, Patrice Killoffer and Mokeït, Lewis Trondheim was one of the founders of L'Association in 1990. It was within this framework that he created the story Lapinot et les carottes de Patagonie, with the constraint of producing an album of exactly 500 plates, without pencils, without a preliminary scenario, a little like "automatic writing" in the manner of the Surrealists. It was his first album, which he produced despite, as he puts it, "not knowing how to draw".
