LOISEL
RÉGIS LOISEL PETER PAN Mains Rouges (T.4), Vents D'ouest 1996 Original plate no. 7. India ink and white gouache on paper 32.5 × 45.4 cm (12.8 × 17.87 in.) This is an essential plate in the series, of course. Peter's cut on his finger, on which Pan's dried blood is still visible, has had, and will continue to have, decisive consequences in this story. Washing his hands in the river, Peter realizes that he is personally responsible for his friend's fatal infection and, at the same time, that he is now inextricably linked to him. Peter becomes Peter Pan. Loisel's narration is a marvel of fluidity, playing with light and focus with virtuosity, as in the first frame, where Tink in the foreground is very present, while she becomes tiny a few frames further on. His graphics focus on the psychology of his character: Peter gradually undergoes a physical transformation, losing his naive childlike face to become a legendary hero.
