COMÈS Original plate no. 4, last page of an untitled story published in Le Monde Dimanche in June 1981. Signed. India ink on paper 36.4 × 50.8 cm (14.33 × 20 in.) In 1976, Comès published L'Ombre du corbeau in Tintin, a fantastic story set against the backdrop of the First World War. It was thanks to this album that he was spotted by Didier Platteau, editor of the new monthly magazine built around Pratt and Tardi, (À Suivre). In 1979, Comès created Silence, his masterpiece, a tale of witchcraft set in the Ardennes countryside and featuring a simple, mute young man. Aesthetically, and with his fantastic themes, he follows in the footsteps of Hugo Pratt, who was not sparing with his compliments. Comès originals are rare on the market, and the author's family donated a large part of his work to the King Baudouin Foundation.
