This is a beautiful plate, full of delicacy and emotion. Après la pluie is a kind of thriller spin-off from Cahier Bleu, one of his masterpieces that won him the Angoulême Grand Prix. The story is written as a romantic comedy, with literary allusions thrown in with a certain detachment, to make way for a romantic situation: Abel, an inveterate shy man, remains frozen, despite Eve's demonstrative efforts. Once again, we admire the quality of the elegant, impeccable line, the detail of the drapery, the objects and the scenery, and the light, soft colors so characteristic of Juillard's work.
