TED BENOIT
TED BENOIT RAY BANANA Berceuse électrique (T.1), Casterman 1982 Original plate no. 79, prepublished in (À suivre) no. 42, July 1981. Signed. India ink on paper 32.1 × 43 cm (12.64 × 16.93 in.) Magnificent sequence that closes Ted Benoit's first album, Ray Banana. Ted Benoit's universe is original in that it combines the noir thriller of Dashiell Hammett with the drawing style inherited from Hergé, which he chose to perfect in the manifesto Vers la Ligne claire (1980), opening the doors to the monthly magazine À Suivre. This plate is the epitome of his talent: his impeccable line, and his modern, luminous, offbeat style.
