VAN DEN BOOGAARD - Lot 80
VAN DEN BOOGAARD THEO VAN DEN BOOGAARD LÉON-LA-TERREUR S'EN BALANCE (T.3) Albin Michel 1986 Original storyboard no. 1 Léon se pose des questions, prepublished in L'Écho des Savanes in 1986. Signed. India ink on paper 36.5 × 47 cm (14.37 × 18.5 in.) Léon-la-Terreur, in Dutch: Sjef Van Oekel (literally: Jeff d'Uccle, "vendeur de frites" in civilian life: humor about Belgians guaranteed 100% Dutch) really existed. He is the comedian Dolf Brouwers, who in 1974-1975 created improbable shows for Dutch TV, similar to the stories of Wim T. Schippers, whose surrealist humor came straight from the Fluxus movement, of which he was a member. It is brilliantly illustrated by Theo Van den Boogaard, undoubtedly the most atypical and accomplished artist of the Dutch Ligne claire movement.
