BAR2 JOE BAR TEAM Volume 5, Vents d'Ouest, 2003 La Corde du pendu, original plate no. 7. Signed. India ink and white gouache on paper 40.3 × 51.8 cm (15.87 × 20.39 in.) If, as we said earlier, bad faith is a recurrent theme in Bar2's comics, there's another thing that comes up just as frequently: the "all-right". For those of you who haven't learned your lesson, can Bar2 remind us what "all-right" is? "Straight ahead happens when you come around a bend too fast. And the accompanying squeal of tires usually precedes a long hospital stay. To be more precise, it's the moment when, convinced that you can't take the bend, you keep braking like crazy, going straight ahead. On the racetrack, this is of no consequence, but on the road, it's one of the worst things that can happen to a motorcyclist. And the worst thing that can happen to a biker who thinks he's a good rider, riding a state-of-the-art sports bike, is to be overtaken at speed by bikers less well armed than himself. In all likelihood, his ego will never recover. Especially if our simili-pilot then realizes that, even in the art of off-roading, some of his fellow riders are more talented than he is. From then on, and even if he had managed to preserve his bones, this unfortunate biker will be nothing more than a broken man. Such is the harsh, unforgiving law of sportbike riding.
