MARIN - Lot 188
MARIN CLAUDE MARIN Original cover for the album Bernard et Bianca published by Hachette in 1987. India ink, colored pencil and gouache on paper 29.8 × 40 cm (11.73 × 15.75 in.) Claude Marin (1931-2001) was one of the best cartoonists in the Disney universe - and one of the few great French figures. He got his start in the post-war years with Marijac's Coq Hardi, then turned to advertising illustration before Michel Mandry, long the reference and memory of Walt Disney in France, sought him out for the Journal de Mickey, then run by the Hachette group. He produced a number of comic strips and illustrations, the albums of which were published by the Boulevard Saint-Germain publisher. His round, personal drawing was so successful that he was commissioned to create Les Bébés Disney, an exclusive series for the big-eared group, which was a worldwide success, leaving an indelible mark on the memory of all Disney fans.
