DELABY - Lot 164
DELABY PHILIPPE DELABY LAMENT OF THE LOST MOORS La Fée Sanctus (T.7), Dargaud 2012 Original plate no. 20. Signed. India ink and graphite on paper 38 × 51.5 cm (14.96 × 20.28 in.) Seamus, the young novice who has become a Knight of Pardon, has set off in search of Sanctus, the Morigane turned fairy, with whom he is smitten. He makes his way through the Landes, listening to the mute confidence of the old stones, each stone of which Delaby draws, before facing the wide open spaces whipped up by the wind. There's a paradoxical management of time in this sequence, typical of screenwriter Jean Dufaux's style. Under the influence of Rosinski, Philippe Delaby, a prodigious self-taught artist, vigorously renews a historical "Ligne claire" into something eminently natural and timeless.
