Since the mid-1980s, comics creation has been undergoing a minor revolution: the home scanner has enabled authors to take control of color, previously the preserve of photoengravers and chromists. For the painter Will, this was a liberation, as he had been forced to work with colors produced exclusively by Studio Leonardo. After Tif & Tondu, he turned to Dupuis' Aire Libre collection, specially created for more artistic and adult projects. In collaboration with Stephen Desberg, Will launched into direct-color albums such as L'Appel de L'Enfer, from which this "beautiful plate with a Greek island fragrance" is taken, in the words of Éric Maltaite.
