BAR2 JOE BAR TEAM Vents d'Ouest Good vibrations! Original illustration published in Moto Journal in 1988. The text was produced on a support affixed to the original. Signed. India ink, colored inks and white gouache on paper 14.9 × 9.6 cm (5.87 × 3.78 in.) Good Vibrations... No, these words don't allude to the Beach Boys' hit, but to the throbbing distilled by the big pistons of the motorcycle featured in this drawing. A Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster, to be precise. "But contrary to what this drawing might suggest, pure bikers were not very fond of this model, which they considered too "sporty". Which may be a bit misleading, given the machine's modest performance. However, even if it wasn't a thunderbolt, this machine, stripped down to the bare essentials, was the lightest in the Harley-Davidson range. And this relatively low weight, combined with a very compact design, gave it a certain aptitude for sporty riding. Something that true Harley enthusiasts couldn't care less about, for whom such motorcycling was completely incongruous. These considerations aside, I find my jolly, jovial biker, outrageously hairy, hairy as an orangutan, to be quite nicely torqued. And I wonder what could have compelled me to apply the big white plaster to the left of the drawing. A greasy fingerprint? If so, and if the future owner of this work has friends in the police, he'll be able to verify that this drawing is really mine."
