TED BENOIT - Lot 94
TED BENOIT RAY BANANA Electric lullaby (T.1), Casterman 1982 Original plate n°66, prepublished in (À Suivre) n°40 of May 1981. India ink on paper 32.1 × 44.2 cm (12.64 × 17.4 in.) In the 1980s, the Ligne claire revolutionized in the footsteps of Dutchman Joost Swarte. Ted Benoit, who until then cultivated a line close to the Underground, makes a radical turn that corresponds to a rehabilitation among the new generation of the great Belgian classics: Hergé, Jacobs, Franquin ... Ted Benoit is one of the leaders who uses the codes of youth comics to tell more adult stories, like Floc'h and Yves Chaland. This allows to insufflate the codes of the hard boiled detective story, with a system of writing dialogues influenced by the New Novel and the New Wave in accordance with the literary ambition of the magazine (À Suivre).
