Pellerin - Lot 71
Pellerin PATRICE PELLERIN THE SPRINGER The Mission (T.7), Quadrants 2009 Original plate #35 with its gouache on grey coloring. Signed. India ink on paper 39.8 × 52.7 cm (15.67 × 20.75 in.) All the central characters of the story are gathered in the port of Brest: L'Épervier, Caroff, Agnès de Kermellec, de Beaucourt. This reconstruction of the port of Brest with this bird's eye view allows us to discover in the foreground the King's ship, then in the Penfeld river, the Admiral, a ship decommissioned as a pontoon where the port management was located. In the second plan: the arsenal and finally in the upper right the Capucins plateau. Another tricky board to compose with its too many squares (one day I'll have to ask my scriptwriter to put less). Added to this was the difficulty of reconstructing this part of the Brest arsenal, with a totally insufficient documentation for this period of 1742. I had to make do with it. P.P.
