CONRAD - Lot 92
CONRAD DIDIER CONRAD THE UNSPEAKABLE South-West of Moscow (T.12), Dargaud 2004 Original plate n° 50. Signed. India ink on paper 30 × 40.8 cm (11.81 × 16.06 in.) Created in Spirou in 1980 and very quickly censored, then withdrawn from the weekly magazine of Dupuis, the series Les Innommables is distinguished by its darkness, its way of deconstructing the clichés of adventure and by the sarcastic tone of its scenario, typical of the Yann of this period. We find a good example here: this plate illustrates the natural affection that Nick Mc Buttle Junior, known as Mac, feels for the young Alix Yin Fu, whom he meets again in this episode. Didier Conrad already shows here an incomparable talent, especially in inking. It's easy to see why Albert Uderzo was so interested in him for the Asterix revival.
