PLESSIX - Lot 78
PLESSIX MICHEL PLESSIX THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS L'Échappée belle (T.3), Delcourt 1999 Original plate n° 4 with its colouring Graphite on paper 31.8 × 47.8 cm (12.52 × 18.82 in.) Colouring on blue. Watercolour on paper 25.9 × 21.4 cm (10.19 × 8.4 in.) The series Le Vent dans les saules (The Wind in the Willows), adapted from the novel by Kenneth Grahame, is the series that really revealed Michel Plessix to the general public, and it has won numerous awards. Plessix perfects his dialogues in a scenario that becomes increasingly tense, where poetry is combined with charm. This scene, both calm and disturbing, is sold with its colouring on blue, a technique that is now obsolete, but which reveals here how the blacks are supported by flat areas of blue.
