GEERTS - Lot 124
GEERTS ANDRÉ GEERTS JOJO, Dupuis Original illustration created in 2002. Signed. India ink, colored ink and gouache on paper 50 × 34.2 cm (19.69 × 13.46 in.) Jojo Semaine (yes, that's his name) is a cute eight-year-old boy who lives with his mother in the countryside. He was created in 1983 by André Geerts, a member of the generation that, along with Yslaire, Frank Pé, Bosse and Darasse, revitalized classic Belgian comics with new graphic references. Geerts' master thinker (and viewer) is, without doubt, Jean-Jacques Sempé. From this initial admiration, he has created his own slightly mischievous universe, where the simple joys of the countryside, like this spring landscape marked by melting ice, can be appreciated with tenderness.
